Last term the Scouts met outside for almost as many meetings as there was good light and weather for and had the opportunity to take part in a number of overnight camps. We regularly held activities at local parks with team games, wide games and athletics and used the routes to and from to think about our Local Knowledge. We started to get to grips with SLR cameras, exploring different lenses and taking some great portrait and action shots.

We started building up knowledge that we’ll use on future hikes and camps such as planning our hike from Bears Wood to Frylands and cooking noodles in wet weather on camping stoves out the back of the hall! We joined the Beavers and Cubs for a whole Group Paddle Boarding session at Beckenham Place Park which was great to get everyone on the water together. We went climbing at the Reach indoor Climbing Centre, also learning about belaying, using auto-belays and games on the bouldering walls.

Spring Camp in May was a good first camp of the year, shared with the Cubs, and with great weather and a fantastic campsite at Bears Wood. We split the activities between Bears Wood and Frylands such as Archery, Climbing, Pioneering Barrel Carts, Problem solving as well as the usual wide games, camp cooking and campfire. A few Scouts also joined the other sections for our Group Family Camp In June at Wilberforce which was another great outdoors experience as well as hosting the Group AGM.

The Summer term was capped by the epic trip to Malta which can be covered by its own post!
