Last term began with an outdoor camp at Cudham Shaws, with many of the Scouts completing their Survival Skills badge with a hike around Downe and making DIY Survival Tins. We explored the woods and fields of this great campsite, caving in their CaveBus and enjoyed the outdoor activities and games.

Over the term, we did a number of skills based activities, such as building circuits with 555 timer chips, photography, radios, assembling the coat hooks for the hall and planned the route for a cycle ride along the Thames Barrier that we’ll hopefully carry out in the Spring. We had lots of games and fun activities even rediscovering Conkers…

We hosted BAC Beatbox Academy for a great workshop, joined the Cubs for Laser Quest and returned to The Reach for Climbing and Bouldering as well as joining a number of whole Group and Family activities such as the Fireworks and Panto.

We reshuffled the Patrols to form 4 new Patrols – Seals / SPLs, Stags, Panthers and Cobras and asked a number of the Scouts to look after these Patrols as Patrol Leaders (PLs) or Assistant Patrol Leaders (APLs). They took on a number of challenges in their patrols such as pioneering Da Vinci Bridges and we held a cooking competition at the end of term.

The older Scouts began planning their Expedition Challenge and joined the Discovery Explorer Scout Unit (for 14-18 year olds) for a number of activities such as Go-Karting and Ice Skating.
